Teleomorph state: Not known

Hywel-Jones, N.L. (1996) described “Specimens were found on small hunting spiders attached to the underside of living leaves of forest plants. Stroma of grayish mycelium completely covering thechost. Synnemata numerous erect, clavate, grey, up to 3 mm high, 60-70 m diam. Phialides in acmonolayer, crowded, usually single or occasionally two or three on lateral basal cells, smoothwalled, cylindrical, 3.5-6.5 x 1.5-2 m tapering to a long, thin, neck, 2-2.5 x 0.5 m. Conidia catenate, one-celled, smooth-walled, hyaline, clavate, 3.5-5.5 x 1-1.5 m.” Isolates on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) were slow-growing, 10-15 mm in 21 d at 22 C, with a white aerial mycelium. There was no sign of sporulation but in culture it produced a pallid wine-red pigment. Hywel-Jones (1996) reported this from Khlong Naka Wildlife Sanctuary (the type locality) in the south of Thailand with a few other records from Khao Yai National Park in Central Thailand. Other collections have now been made from Khao Sok National Park (which is contiguous to Khlong Naka) and Khao Pu - Khao Ya National Park and Hala Bala National Park (both to the south of the type locality) and from Nam Nao National Park (to the north of Khao Yai). Although no teleomorph has been reported for this species, white pulvinate cushions are sometimes seen giving the appearance of developing into Torrubiella-like perithecial cushions. This species seems to be especially associated with the crab spiders (Thomisidae).
